The Postgraduate Program "Advanced Cardiopulmonary Practice – Cardiovascular Perfusion Science" is the only program certified by the corresponding European Society (European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion). This certification provides the opportunity not only for professional development as a Clinical Perfusionist not only in Greece but across world.
The Cardiothoracic Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which organizes the Postgraduate Program "Advanced Cardiopulmonary Practice – Cardiovascular Perfusion Science" is an internationally recognized clinical and educational center in minimally invasive extracorporeal circulation (MiECC systems), as well as the seat of the corresponding International Society (Minimal Invasive Extracorporeal Technologies International Society - MiECTiS). The students of the Postgraduate Program are trained in the clinical application of minimally invasive extracorporeal circulation and become members of the Society.
The Hellenic Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons collaborates with the Program by providing support not only with lectures but also with promoting practical training of the students in different cardiac surgery departments.
The Panhellenic Association of Clinical Perfusionists recognizes the Postgraduate Program " Advanced Cardiopulmonary Practice – Cardiovascular Perfusion Science " as a prerequisite for obtaining the professional title of Clinical Perfusionist in Greece, in accordance with the relevant legislation (B' 4972/2018).
The Greek branch of Medtronic (Medtronic Hellas), which is a pioneer in the field of extracorporeal circulation technology as well as in cardiopulmonary support, has supported the activities of the postgraduate program (courses and research) by offering technological equipment and sponsorships.
