Upon completion of the Postgraduate Program, graduates will be able to:
- Understand in depth the applied physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems
- Understand in depth the surgical anatomy of the heart and great vessels
- Interpret biochemical tests that monitor the function of the circulatory system
- Evaluate the diagnostic approach and the pharmacological and interventional treatment of the main cardiac diseases that are amenable to cardiac surgery
- Understand the various parts as well as the function of the heart-lung machnie
- Understand the function of mechanical circulatory support devices (pumps, intra-aortic balloon, ECMO) used in cardiac surgery
