Selection Criteria
Categories of Graduates
The Program accepts holders of first-cycle degrees from Departments of Higher Educational Institutions in Greece and abroad, and in particular graduates of Faculties of Health Sciences and Polytechnic Schools, Departments of Biological and Natural Sciences, Nursing of University Departments in Greece or equivalent recognized Departments abroad, as well as graduates of Technological Educational Institutions (TEI) (Nursing, Medical Laboratories).
Number and Selection Criteria
The number of admitted students per year is set at a minimum of seven (7) and a maximum of thirty (30) postgraduate students.
The Program following a decision of the Department Assembly, announces positions through an open procedure. In particular, the invitation states the admission requirements, the number of admissions, the categories of candidates, the method of admission, the selection criteria, etc., the deadlines for submitting applications as well as the required supporting documents.
The selection criteria for admissions include:
1. Possession of a first-cycle degree/diploma from Greece or abroad.
2. Previous research activity or participation in educational programs of additional professional training, further education or specialization in a related subject.
3. Possible professional experience, the aim of engaging in the scientific field of extracorporeal circulation techniques and extracorporeal circulation device technology.
4. Knowledge of foreign languages (a prerequisite is knowledge of at least B2 level of a foreign language from the following: English, Italian, French, German, Spanish. Knowledge of a second foreign language is given points). In the event that there is no official proof of foreign language, the candidate is examined orally for certification of training.
5. Computer knowledge.
6. Personal interview by a competent committee
The selection process of candidates is initiated by the Secretariat of the Program, which checks the completeness of the file and then draws up a list of candidates who have submitted all the necessary supporting documents by the deadline.
By decision of the Coordinating Committee, a three-member Selection and Examination Committee is appointed, consisting of members of the Teaching and Research Staff who have undertaken a postgraduate project. The Committee shall draw up a complete list of all candidates and, after the relevant review, shall reject those who do not meet the minimum criteria set by the Department and shall invite to an interview the qualified candidates who have met the prerequisites.
Based on the required supporting documents, the Committee shall evaluate the candidates with the following points:
1) General degree grade, multiplied by a factor of 1 [maximum ten (10) points].
2) Previous research activity or participation in educational programs of additional professional training, further education or specialization in a related subject [maximum five (5) points, one (1) point/research project].
3) Possible professional experience, the aim of working in the scientific field of extracorporeal circulation techniques and extracorporeal device technology [from one to ten (1-10) points, one (1) point/semester of employment].
4) Knowledge of a second foreign language at least level B2 [5 points/language with a maximum of ten (10) points]. In the event that there is no official proof of foreign language, the candidate is examined orally for the certification of training.
5) Computer knowledge [ten (10) points].
6) The grade of the oral interview is multiplied by a factor of 3.5 [maximum thirty-five (35) points].
During the interview, candidates are scored on the personality traits they demonstrate during the interview as well as on the depth of their knowledge based on their professional and research experiences (single criterion).
The candidate must obtain a minimum of thirty (30) points out of a total of eighty (80) points.
