“The participation in the postgraduate program “Advanced Cardiopulmonary Practice-Cardiovascular Perfusion Science” has helped me conquer the difficult principles of hemodynamics and improve my clinical skills. During the theory classes and the cardiothoracic operations, we were exposed to both the conventional and the minimally invasive extracorporeal circulation technique, which is unique in AHEPA University Hospital among all Greek public hospitals. Moreover, I gained valuable knowledge pertaining to the elaborate interactions between the circulatory, and respiratory systems, end-organ perfusion, and hemostatic mechanisms from the cardiac surgeon’s, cardiac anesthesiologist’s, and perfusionist’s perspective. The tutors have guided me through the entire process and enabled me to attend and participate in congresses, publish articles, and proceed to doctoral research under the supervision of a Professor of the Programme.”.
"My attendance in the postgraduate programme " Advanced Cardiopulmonary Practice-Cardiovascular Perfusion Science" marked a decisive point in my professional course. Despite many years of clinical experience, the programme offered theoretical completion and a deeper understanding of the principles that govern the object of my work, while everyday practice was linked to a documented scientific foundation. Its value was demonstrated in practice upon its completion, as my doctoral research in the field was funded by a leading company of the sector (Medtronic), a distinction that, as far as is known, has not to date been granted to any other specialist in extracorporeal circulation in the country. It thus becomes clear that the course is not confined to reinforcing existing knowledge but forms the conditions for independent research activity and for cooperation with the international industry.".
