POLYCHRONIS ANTONITSIS

Mr. Polychronis Antonitsis is an Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received his Medical Degree from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1998. He trained in General Surgery at the First Surgical Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued his specialization in Cardiac Surgery at the John Radcliffe University Hospital in Oxford and at the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the direction of Professor Chrys. Papakonstantinou. In 2011, he received the title of specialist in Thoracic Surgery. He serves in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a Lecturer and as an Assistant Professor until today.

At the academic level, Mr. Polychronis Antonitsis holds a Master's Degree in Medical Research Technology and a PhD from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The subject of his research concerns the conversion of bone marrow stem cells into myocardial cells. This research activity was carried out at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and its results have been published in reputable scientific journals with a significant number of bibliographic references. At the same time, his clinical interest focuses on the development and implementation of minimally invasive extracorporeal circulation circuits as well as mechanical support for patients with severe cardiac or respiratory failure. Mr. Antonitsis is Secretary of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Technologies (MiECTiS). He has participated as a publisher of foreign language books and has a significant number of publications in international and Greek scientific journals.
